Inspiration for my paintings: Longing for summer. Opportunities in color.
Spring 2011. I was so tired of painting according to an instruction from a teacher. My longing to express myself in my own way and to open my heart was irresistible. So then I painted two large abstract paintings (120×90) and one in a smaller format. All three paintings are included in the series ”Freedom”. My need of freedom from painting in a mandatory way felt so great. My intuition dictated to me the choice of colors and composition. This process was brief and intense, because I did not doubt my technique.
I longed for the summer heat with all its colors. Abstract thinking in geometric shapes came to bring my positive and peaceful meditative reflections. Negative aspects came to be symbolized with black color and my passion is reflected in the red, orange and yellow nuances. I was drawn to the dark red, which is not screaming and immature. In the painting “Longing for summer”, which symbolizes the emotional experience, this is the central and most attractive aspect.
I painted with acrylic and from my inner self, seeking opportunities in life. One should not just wait for opportunities. The painting shows my inner readiness to actively seek ”openings” to problem solving in different situations. The geometric shapes are not in chaos but are structured and precise, with clear and harmonious colors. You can see that I do not doubt my life decisions and I’m not afraid of change. The painting ”Opportunities in color” has a positive effect and conveys security, as many people in different countries do not have in everyday life. I think that the painting fit to make more intense and in a larger size and can fit in public places.
